I’m proud (and a little nervous!) to be running the Cape Town Marathon on May 24, 2026 as a Room to Read Global Ambassador.

This isn’t just a race for me. I’m running because I truly believe that World Change Starts with Educated Children. 

I’ve been a beneficiary of education in ways that have shaped who I am and the opportunities I’ve had. At the same time, I’m acutely aware of what happens when children are denied that same chance. The deprivation of education doesn’t just limit individual potential, it holds back entire communities and generations. To me, every child who grows up without literacy or access to learning represents a loss to the world that is simply incalculable.

That’s why this matters so deeply.  Every mile I run is for them and for the futures that education can unlock.

Room to Read is doing incredible work to build a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality. They focus on foundational literacy and empowering girls with life skills, working directly with communities by training educators, creating learning spaces, and delivering programs that respect and uplift every child.
