Why your help matters
We want to ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, with appropriate grade-level texts, a library budding with books, and a safe classroom with teachers helping them resist pressure to drop out for work or marriage. We're creating world change that helps low-income communities break the cycle of poverty by improving literacy rates and getting one step closer to graduation day.
We're Getting Active for Cycling and Education!
London to Paris 29th May - 31st May 2019
Donald Campbell, Richard Chalmers, Stephen Lucas, Graham Spawforth, Guy Speakman and Niel Strawson (the Café Racers) met at Edinburgh University in 1983. We all had a fabulous 4 years doing various degrees and have remained great friends ever since. We therefore met through education and in large part have been able to go on and lead fulfilling careers and lives because of education! Many children around the world are not so lucky and so we want to help and make a difference in their lives by supporting Room to Read and challenging ourselves to bicycle from London to Paris on Wednesday 29th May – Friday 31st May! Please note that none of us are serious bike riders so it is even more of a challenge than you might think!
We know Room to Read does AMAZING work to transform the lives of millions of children in low income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Please kindly help to inspire us to pedal all the way to Paris and at the same time help some children get an education and a better chance in life. Please give what you can (no amount is too little) and thank you so much for your generosity.
