Cycling 300km in 3 Days with Only 1 Week of Training
Okay, so I may have bitten off more than I can chew — but with your help, I will tune up my rusty bike and train methodically for one (1) week and cycle from Faro to Lisbon in just three days.
We will be tackling:
- 3,200m of climbing 🚵
- Saddle sore
- The potential of losing face in front of colleagues and strangers!
To make this ordeal worthwhile, I aim to raise €400 for a charity my company has been involved with for years: Room to Read.
If you can spare it, I'd appreciate your sponsorship and kind words of encouragement — but mostly your sponsorship.
Why this is a great cause
I’m fundraising for Room to Read because I believe world change starts with educated children.
Room to Read envisions a world where all children can pursue a quality education that enables them to reach their full potential and contribute to their communities and the world.
By focusing on literacy and gender equality in education, Room to Read transforms the lives of millions of children in low-income communities. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments, they help primary school children develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.
Your donation will go directly to good causes
This isn't one of those fundraisers where we squander the donations on mysterious admin costs! Funds will be used to build schools or libraries in developing countries such as Nepal or Tanzania — and the money will be distributed where the need is greatest.
Why your help matters
We want to ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, with appropriate grade-level texts, a library budding with books, and a safe classroom with teachers helping them resist pressure to drop out for work or marriage. We're creating world change that helps low-income communities break the cycle of poverty by improving literacy rates and getting one step closer to graduation day.
