My Room to Read Fundraiser
Did you know that if every child received an education, 170 million people would be lifted out of poverty?
On the 8th of September, I will put down my laptop and cycle 300 km with 40 other riders from Faro to Lisbon with TechBikers - all to raise money for Room to Read!
Please support me with however much you can give.
Why? Because I strongly believe access to education is one of the main factors to reduce inequality and other challenges in our world. Everyone, independently of where they are born, deserve to have access to great education.
Where will your donations go?
All your donations will go straight to Room to Read, who have received the highly recognized Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator nine years in a row. Funds will be used to build schools or libraries in developing countries such as Nepal or Tanzania. Funds go where the need is greatest.
What's TechBikers?
In 2012, TechBikers was born when the London tech community, led by Eze Vidra, decided to put down their laptops and picked up bikes to network, share ideas and ultimately, make an impact outside the community. Because TechBikers believes in the power of education, all events raise money for Room to Read, a charity focused on youth literacy and girls’ education across Asia and Africa. Since 2012, over 1,000 tech professionals — including start-ups, venture capitalists and executives — have cycled over 6,000 km and raised over £700,000 for the organisation.
Why your help matters
We want to ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, with appropriate grade-level texts, a library budding with books, and a safe classroom with teachers helping them resist pressure to drop out for work or marriage. We're creating world change that helps low-income communities break the cycle of poverty by improving literacy rates and getting one step closer to graduation day.
