Education is something we feel very passionate about at Parkgate – something we believe no child, no matter where they're born, should live without. That's why we are challenging ourselves to read for education. Parkgate pupils are taking part in a Readathon this spring term. They are asking for sponsorship for each book they read.
All funds will go directly to Room to Read, a global non-profit organisation working to ensure children in low-income countries grow up with effective teachers, high quality children's books, and essential life skills to escape the cycle of poverty through quality education. Over one billion children are out of school globally due to COVID-19. Room to Read are working hard to overcome this. Your support helps them reach their goal and gives you the opportunity to make a difference.
$10 brings 10 new books to a classroom.
$25 fills an entire bookshelf.
$50 teaches a child how to read for one year.
$100 gives one girl a year of confidence-building life skills education.
$300 keeps her in secondary school with a supportive mentor for an entire year.

Why your help matters
We want to ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, with appropriate grade-level texts, a library budding with books, and a safe classroom with teachers helping them resist pressure to drop out for work or marriage. We're creating world change that helps low-income communities break the cycle of poverty by improving literacy rates and getting one step closer to graduation day.
