Why this cause is important to us:

Chad and I both feel deeply, that access to education should be considered a fundamental right for all persons, in every country. Education is not only fundamental to sustainable development, but is also one of the strongest instruments in reducing poverty and improving health. We believe access to education not only allows a person to earn a better living, and enjoy a better quality of life, but it has a positive impact on the country's economic growth. 

Education is key in changing the world. Women are key in changing the world. Government partnerships are key in building sustainable programs. Room to Read recognizes all of this.

We would love your support in our goal of raising $35,000.00 to open a library in a country in need. This is a large number, and we recognize that - however these funds not only open a library full of books in a community without one, but also trains a teacher!

Why Room to Read? 

Many world problems can be addressed through one solution: education. Why? Because knowing how to read makes people safer, healthier and more self-sufficient -- yet nearly 800 million people are illiterate and two thirds are women and girls. That's why Room to Read's innovative model focuses on deep, systematic transformation within schools in low-income countries during the two most critical time periods in a child's schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls' education.
