Education is the true cornerstone for a better future for us all!
Attending school, learning to read and write is only the start of what can become an amazing life-long journey of new learnings. It underpins our ability to communicate, develop and progress – in essence, the ability to make key changes to our lives.
From my own personal experience of not knowing these skills until I was eight years old, I know the true difference that they can make – and how it can transform lives for the better. It’s the key to a new world, one that is better for us all.
I am therefore So Excited to dedicate my trek to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) to Room to Read, a non-profit organisation that is present in Tanzania and other parts of the world.
Room to Read helps children in historically low-income communities to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading. It supports girls as they build skills to succeed in school and make key life decisions.
For US$300, we are able to support one-year of education one girl. US$2,500 can help 50 children learn to read and write for one year. US$7,000 can provide a library full of local language books.
As Amazing Trekkers, my group of friends and myself have come together to achieve our goal of hiking this majestic mountain, the Roof of Africa, in January 2023.
Since July 2022, we have worked so hard for the challenge ahead, through physical exercise, mental strengthening and practical preparations.
We have hiked 100s of kilometres, climbed 1,000s of stairs and spent hours researching all what we need to know and to expect. We have successfully navigated wild boars, scorpions, poisonous snakes and inquisitive monkeys. Continued our training through blistering heat & humidy or relentless rain.
We have the strength - we have the drive - we have the enthusisams and drive to reach our goal!

We want to ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, with appropriate grade-level texts, a library budding with books, and a safe classroom with teachers helping them resist pressure to drop out for work or marriage. We're creating world change that helps historically low-income communities break the cycle of poverty by improving literacy rates and ensuring students get one step closer to graduation day and the lives they choose for themselves.
